WCAG 2.1 AA

Overview

WCAG 2.1 at level AA is the widely adopted standard for making web interfaces usable by everyone, including people who rely on keyboards, screen readers, or other assistive technology. It is organised around four principles: content should be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust. Public-sector and enterprise tenders frequently require AA as a baseline. ControlBird builds its operator and management interfaces on an accessible foundation and treats AA as the target, while being clear that it has not undergone a formal third-party accessibility audit.

Provide text alternatives, sufficient colour contrast, and content that adapts to the user’s needs.

Operable

Make everything usable from the keyboard, with ways to bypass repetitive content and a clear focus indicator.

Understandable

Present readable, predictable interfaces with helpful labels and clear error handling.

Use standard, semantic markup so assistive technology can interpret the interface reliably.

How ControlBird aligns

Semantic, screen-reader-friendly markup

Interfaces are built with semantic landmarks (navigation, main, and content regions) and ARIA labels, roles, and states, and important status changes are announced through live regions so screen-reader users hear them.

Keyboard operability

The interfaces are designed to be driven from the keyboard, the marketing and management site provides a skip-to-content link to bypass navigation, and interactive controls are reachable in order. Consistent focus styling is being extended across all components.

Readable presentation and contrast

A theme system with light, dark, and low-contrast monochrome options lets users pick a comfortable display, and colour is used to signal state rather than as the only cue. Touch targets on the public site meet the recommended minimum size, and animations respect a reduced-motion preference in the operator UI.

Robust foundations

The interfaces use current, standard web markup so assistive technology can interpret names, roles, and values, with hidden helper text where extra context is useful.

Honest scope

ControlBird has not completed a formal WCAG 2.1 AA audit or certification. Accessibility is an ongoing effort: systematic text alternatives, consistent focus styling, and form error messaging are areas being improved, and we can share the current state for a specific screen on request. We say this plainly so it can be checked against a tender’s accessibility requirements.
