Tags and the IO Manager

v0.2.22
•Platform

Features

  • IO Manager: Device Manager is now the IO Manager, with four sections: Tags, Connections, Integrations and Discovery. The device inventory and its explorer are gone; connections, their endpoints and ControlBird peers are shown in Connections.
  • IO Manager: every data point is a tag with a unique, dotted tag ID such as `Plant.Boiler.Temperature`. Tags groups them by those IDs, flags IDs that are shared or invalid, and searches by tag ID or connection.
  • IO Manager: a tag's detail shows its live value, connection, publications, alarms, history tables and rule chains, and lets you rename or publish it. Open in IO Manager on an entity selects the tag that targets it.
  • IO Manager: when you add an integration, each device comes with suggested tag IDs that you can accept or change, and any ID another tag already holds is reported.
  • IO Manager: connections can set TLS, a certificate, logging and passwords.
  • IO Manager: each server tag chooses whether every write it receives reaches ControlBird or only a changed value. Server tags forward every write by default, so a repeated command is acted on each time; Modbus server tags forward only changes.
  • Extensions: a button in the top bar shows how many installed extensions have an update, and which ControlBird version a blocked update needs. Nodes check the catalog for updates every 6 hours. On a phone, a dot on the profile button shows the same.

Bug Fixes

  • IO Manager: every change checks that you may write its target, and exporting points includes only what you may read and never a password or other secret.
  • IO Manager: integration devices show under their connections again instead of as Unassigned.
  • IO Manager: each DNP3 transport and each BACnet MS/TP network gets its own card in Connections.
  • IO Manager: a tag's Choice value is shown and written by its label, and DNP3 tags get Group:Index address suggestions instead of Modbus registers.
  • Upgrades: an extension upgrade, or adding an integration's devices again, keeps a tag you renamed instead of recreating it under its old name.
  • Add Integration: Test Connection gives up on an unreachable host after 5 seconds and reports which addresses it did not try.
  • Alarms: the Service Status, Service Mode, System Configuration and Migration alarms clear when healthy instead of staying in Active Alarms.
  • Alarms: the endpoint leader change notice names the connection and the node that leads it, and acknowledging it hides it once a leader is elected.
  • Active Alarms: no stray + button appears once every alarm is acknowledged.

⚠️ Breaking Changes

  • Device Manager is replaced by the IO Manager extension, with no automatic move from one to the other: install IO Manager, remove Device Manager, and add your integrations again.
